Overall

The largest ski area in the entire United States, home to the greatest snow on earth (so locals claim), and named one of the top 20 prettiest towns by Forbes…ladies and gentlemen, it’s Park City! What is now known as Park City used to be two separate ski areas. Despite the merger, the ski areas retain their previous character, with Canyons serving up longer runs with more vertical drop than its neighbor. Park City's specialty is an abundance of amazingly wide trails to keep even the most enthusiastic carver busy all week. As ski resorts go, this place is up there with the best in the world, totaling up an enormous 7,300 ac of ski terrain with over 300 trails and counting. But it’s not just sheer vastness that makes Park City stand out, it’s the holy grail of excellent quality powder, consistent snowfall, and a distinct lack of wind that generally keeps the white stuff fresh, dry, and floaty.

Best month to go

Early February to mid-March

The ski season at Park City can last for five whole glorious months, from mid-November to mid-April. The start and tail end aren’t going to offer the best snow, so if you can aim your trip for any time between the beginning of February to the middle of March. This time of year gives you the best chance of scoring fresh deep powder with all the trails and lifts open. When it comes to snowfall, there is no reliable pattern in Utah, but the local consensus is that the second half of February is when the best powder is served, usually around the time of the Presidents’ Day national holiday. During the Sundance Film Festival, you may find the slopes surprisingly quiet, but restaurants get booked out months in advance and lodging prices are usually turned up a notch, so make sure you’ve secured a ski and snowboard deal at Park City.

For beginners

Our pick for beginners is The Meadows, a wide and mellow beginner trail where you can find some good snow since it's unusually high up the mountain for a green slope compared to other North American resorts!

More beginners tips

For intermediates

Park City is the mountain for intermediates. For a hella long run with steep sections, bridges, and tunnels to keep you twisting and turning, take Alpenglow to Twilight and then connect onto Harmony! It's our favorite here!

More intermediates tips

For experts

For the biggest drop, Canyon's is where is at. But if you want to test your limits at Park City, take the McConkey's Express Chairlift and hike up to Jupiter Peak, where the heart-racing East Face and Puma Bowl awaits.

More experts tips

Find freshies

On the Park City side, you'll find the deepest fresh stuff in the Main Bowl as well as the hike-to terrain along the ridge off Jupiter chairlift. On the Canyons side, hike up Ninety-Nine 90 for endless freshies in the off-piste and backcountry terrain!

Ditch the crowds

Avoid the Silverlode Express and Tombstone Express lifts during peak hours (10:00am - 2:00pm) if you're not a fan of queues!

Non skiers

As one of our best ski resorts for non-skiers in North America, we're pretty sure non-skiers will be well entertained here. The options are endless at Park City, we couldn't fit it all here.

Families

With so much terrain to explore and tons of off-slope activities all within the proximity of Park CIty, there's something for the whole family to enjoy.

Park City is where I got my pass this year. I have only been to the canyons side of it, but I am excited to try the rest out. The Canyons side had some awesome terrain, lift 9990 will take you to some of the most fun steep and deep skiing in Utah. The orange bubble lift is cool. Can’t wait to go back.... More

Park City was the first stop on a Utah family ski trip. We ultimately enjoyed Deer Valley more because of fewer crowds, but Park City still delivered on terrain and snow conditions to give us a great day. We didn't get to enjoy as much of the mountain as we would've liked due to time and weather, but we still enjoyed it nonetheless. The steep... More
