The largest ski area in the entire United States, home to the greatest snow on earth (so locals claim), and named one of the top 20 prettiest towns by Forbes…ladies and gentlemen, it’s Park City! What is now known as Park City used to be two separate ski areas. Despite the merger, the ski areas retain their previous character, with Canyons serving up longer runs with more vertical drop than its neighbor. Park City's specialty is an abundance of amazingly wide trails to keep even the most enthusiastic carver busy all week. As ski resorts go, this place is up there with the best in the world, totaling up an enormous 7,300 ac of ski terrain with over 300 trails and counting. But it’s not just sheer vastness that makes Park City stand out, it’s the holy grail of excellent quality powder, consistent snowfall, and a distinct lack of wind that generally keeps the white stuff fresh, dry, and floaty.

Best month to go

Early February to mid-March

The ski season at Park City can last for five whole glorious months, from mid-November to mid-April. The start and tail end aren’t going to offer the best snow, so if you can aim your trip for any time between the beginning of February to the middle of March. This time of year gives you the best chance of scoring fresh deep powder with all the trails and lifts open. When it comes to snowfall, there is no reliable pattern in Utah, but the local consensus is that the second half of February is when the best powder is served, usually around the time of the Presidents’ Day national holiday. During the Sundance Film Festival, you may find the slopes surprisingly quiet, but restaurants get booked out months in advance and lodging prices are usually turned up a notch, so make sure you’ve secured a ski and snowboard deal at Park City.

For beginners

Our pick for beginners is The Meadows, a wide and mellow beginner trail where you can find some good snow since it's unusually high up the mountain for a green slope compared to other North American resorts!

More beginners tips

For intermediates

Park City is the mountain for intermediates. For a hella long run with steep sections, bridges, and tunnels to keep you twisting and turning, take Alpenglow to Twilight and then connect onto Harmony! It's our favorite here!

For experts

For the biggest drop, Canyon's is where is at. But if you want to test your limits at Park City, take the McConkey's Express Chairlift and hike up to Jupiter Peak, where the heart-racing East Face and Puma Bowl awaits.

More experts tips

Find freshies

On the Park City side, you'll find the deepest fresh stuff in the Main Bowl as well as the hike-to terrain along the ridge off Jupiter chairlift. On the Canyons side, hike up Ninety-Nine 90 for endless freshies in the off-piste and backcountry terrain!

Ditch the crowds

Avoid the Silverlode Express and Tombstone Express lifts during peak hours (10:00am - 2:00pm) if you're not a fan of queues!

Non skiers

As one of our best ski resorts for non-skiers in North America, we're pretty sure non-skiers will be well entertained here. The options are endless at Park City, we couldn't fit it all here.

Families

With so much terrain to explore and tons of off-slope activities all within the proximity of Park CIty, there's something for the whole family to enjoy.

Park City is one of the top resorts in the world. There are so many runs one can use. Afterwards, you have many dining options in the city itself. The nightlife is one of the best. Pretty crowded duri g Sundance... More

Best snow in the world, family friendly resort with trails for all skill levels. We have only been there twice but we were blown away with knee deep powder. The food in the lodges was also top notch.

The one the only Park City! I was amazed by how big the resort is - we tried to ski between Park City and Canyons one day and it took the whole day just to transit around. Massive wide runs like a highway, very smooth pistes. Food in town was a bit average though. Very close to SLC airport

Great place! Love getting lost on this mountain only to ski into town for lunch. Skiing options for all levels, and never still find new trails and powder stashes. Wonderful staff as well.

If you are coming to Utah from out of town, enjoy apres skiing, want some decent skiing and have a lot of money to spend then you should go to Park City. Now that Vail has taken over I can't afford skiing at Park City very often. I learned to ski at the old Park West/Wolf Mountain/The Canyons so it's a sentimental place to me. It is now part of... Best resort in the west! Utah powder? Check! Massive amounts of terrain? Check! Lots of trails and lifts? Check! Snow bunnies? Utah has the finest! Even on busy days this resort is large enough to avoid the crowds and lines

Park city may now be technically the largest ski resort in North America, but it still doesn't have anything on Vail. The mountain is mostly flat and boring, and is only technically larger because it combined with the canyons. Most of those runs simply connect the homes to the main part of the resort.
