Overall
Being independent isn't the only thing Red Mountain should be proud about. Known for its extreme terrain and some of the best steep tree skiing in British Columbia, Red Mountain Resort serves up plenty of crowd-free slopes across its three mountains; Red Mountain, Granite Mountain, and the recently opened Grey Mountain!
Best month to go
February
The snow in RED Mountain Resort is amazing during February, however, it’s also the busiest month of the season. The slopes are generally crowd-free but if you prefer peace and quiet then hold off until March where you can still find great powder up to April.

For beginners
Never-evers will have no problem learning the basics near the base lodge with a magic carpet serving the area. The greens and blues off the Silverlode Chair are also great for those with a bit more experience. The standout for beginners though is off the Grey Mountain lift where they can ski from the top of Grey Mountain all the way to the base following a series of green trails starting from Long May You Run!
For intermediates
Red Mountain is great for intermediates with tons of groomed blues and mellow tree-skiing on offer. Our pick for intermediates has to be the Mini Bowls in Paradise which is packed with fun tree runs! Don't forget to also stop by the stunning mid-mountain Paradise Lodge while you're there, it's one of our favorite places to grab a bite!
For experts
Red Mountain is a thrill-seekers paradise with half of the runs here rated for advanced and experts! The chutes off Buffalo Ridge and the double black Captain Jack's Trees are our favorites here but be warned, they're pretty tough! If you love cliffs (and perhaps showing off a little), Link's Line under the Motherlode Chair is always a winner!
Find freshies
Powder Fields almost always has stashes! The backside of the Motherlode Chair is also incredible but also incredibly steep (and watch out for the cliffs)! In the very unlikely chance the freshies get tracked out inbounds, hike up Mt Roberts and Mt Kirkup!
Ditch the crowds
The Silverlode Chair always bottlenecks in the morning as it's the gateway lift to that will take you to the rest if the mountain. Other than that, there are rarely any crowds at here plus the recently opened Grey Mountain offers up more terrain and isn't ridden as much!
Non skiers
Other than snowshoeing and Nordic skiing, there's very little that will keep non-skiers entertained at Red Mountain. The nearby laid-back town of Rossland doesn't have much in the way of activities either.
Families
Red Mountain is an ideal resort for families with runs to suit all abilities! The Paradise area is our pick for families with great blue groomers like Southern Comfort and Southern Belle being the standouts!

Loved there a couple seasons. Amazing town and amazing terrain on he hill... when it gets the snow. Fortunately it stays nice and cold and the lack of crowds means the back and slack country always have fresh lines.... Moreexpert skier

Red will blow your mind. It's huge and gets awesome powder. Local hostle was a great deal and lift passes are reasonably priced. If you have the cash definitely go cat skiing. ... Moreexpert snowboarder

Grew up snowboarding here, it's an amazing resort in an amazing location! I love the awesome powder, and the huge amount of terrain. Would recommend to anyone! The paradise Lodge is the best on mountain Lodge I've ever been to.
