Overall
Idaho is home to Sun Valley – the most famous, historic ski resort in the country. Sun Valley is the “original,” home of the world’s first chairlift in the country, on Dollar Mountain in 1936. This is the resort that produced so many Olympians and invented the ski week concept as movie stars, musicians, skaters and skiers arrived by train for days of winter play.

Sun Valley is a great destination resort. Pristine groomers and 3,000 feet of descent. Pretty good glade skiing and bowls depending on the snow. They also have an entirely separate mountain for beginners. Tons of intermediate runs and a few good advanced ones. Not much for experts however. Does not get a ton of snow, but it’s not awful.... Baldy is the steep mountain that is more well known. If you can time a powder day you will be beyond stoked. It has lots of steeps and the trees can... Moreexpert snowboarder

Sun Valley is my favorite ski resort to visit. 3000 vertical feet steep laps, no lift lines, elegant but not expensive, great restaurants, fun bars, and the most authentic ski town I have ever visited. On top of that, the Sun Valley Lodge is my favorite hotel in the country.Superb!5 / 5Oct 16, 2017

I love the convenience of drop off and the fact that there are barely ever any lift lines. The lodges are beautiful and the ski terrain offers so many challenges. The place is fantastic!Superb!5 / 5Oct 08, 2017

Our favorite family resort! It so easy to drop off my wife and kids and park only a minute away! It takes the stress out of a dropoff. Plus the skiing is great and less crowded than most resorts.Superb!5 / 5Oct 08, 2012

We love Sun Valley. We used to own a condo there and spent 2 weeks there every spring and 1 week each summer. We are enjoying being able to share Sun Valley with our teenage children.
