Overall
Sugarloaf is the largest ski resort in Maine and the second largest in New England with over 1,240 ac of skiing trails, glades, and side country terrain. Sugarloaf is located on Maine’s second highest peak, 4,237 ft, with Maine’s tallest vertical of 2,820 ft. Sugarloaf is a cult phenomenon among passionate skiers, it’s hard to get to and hard to forget…a big beautiful mountain with a great base village full of loyal Loaf fans that like to party après ski. What’s unique about Sugarloaf, besides its remote location in the Carrabassett Valley, is the breathtaking views from the bold windblown summit, and the above tree line skiing from the summit, called Sugarloaf snowfields when the snow is good.

Big crowds and lift closures due to wind are common at Sugarloaf. Solid mountain with fun tree skiing in Brackett Basin. Just wish more lifts would be open when I go...... Moreadvanced skier

Best ski resort in the east, no contest! Great variety of trails, great facilities, pretty good lifts, very nice hotel, lots of good restaurants at the base. Some of the most epic terrain in the East!... Moreintermediate skier

It has great trails and good grooming! but it is too expensive! Older buildings but great paces to hang with family and friends. Know they just redid Widowmaker Lounge which is great!... Moreintermediate skier

I had a phenomenal time at Sugarloaf, granted the resort is far away, the skiing culture and friendly atmosphere is unparalleled anywhere else i've been, even at a peak time of the season the slopes were still not that crowded. Their is plenty to do here that one can spend multiple if not weeks here and not get bored. Sugarloaf is arguably one of... Moreadvanced skier

Amazing terrain, excellent snow, plenty of lift capacity and Bullwinkles for refreshments. While it can get cold and there maybe the occasional lift wind hold the experience and the views are more than worth it. I've skied all over the country and in Europe and the Loaf is a beast of the skiing universe!... Moreexpert skier

My home mountain the loaf. Awesome community, friendly people, and amazing snowboarding to be had. Remember to bring layers it can get cold up there, but with world class terrain it’s worth it. Warm up with the best pizza and beer I know and the bag. Going out go hit up the rack for some live music and drinks. Just as fun at the loaf in the summer... Moreexpert snowboarder

I can't explain why but I just don't get good vibes here. It's very crowded, lifts are crappy, parking sucks. Save your money and go to Sunday river instead. They also brag about lift serviced above tree line skiing, which is never open and not real above tree line.... Moreadvanced skier

Sugarloaf is an amazing mountain, with enough trails to cater to everyone's abilities and desires. The staff does a great job maintaining the facilities and trails. The dining options are overwhelming and shelter is close by.... Moreadvanced skier

Best terrain the entire east coast offers!! An absolute must for any serious/advanced skier on the east coast. Rarely crowded, the secluded resort of Sugarloaf offers a break from the long lift lines of other New England resorts. Beautiful scenery, unreal glades, great snow, fantastic dining, but bring layers because it can get cold.... Moreexpert skier
