Learn more about Taos Ski Valley
Pros
- Top resort for advanced skiers and boarders; more than half the terrain is rated expert
- Spectacular views from the top of Kachina Peak
- Excellent facilities for families including daycare and children’s ski programs
Cons
- Its popularity means it’s often crowded during holidays
Overall
The only real ski destination in New Mexico, Taos' steep slopes and fun backcountry are a haven for advanced and expert skiers. On the other hand, beginners and freestylers might be disappointed by the lack of variety here. Regardless of the weather conditions, the resort generally holds powder well and will have good packed snow in between storms. Just note, there are tons of cliff zones all over the mountain so don't cut the ropes.

Taos combines all the things I look for in a ski park: long runs, short wait times for lifts, good accomodations and dining options after a day on the slopes.Very Good!4 / 5Jul 25, 2005

Terrific scenery, with good access and location to meet family. TOurism impact is not as destructive to natural system as other areas.Very Good!4 / 5Feb 25, 2005
