Part of Les 4 Vallées, Verbier is a freeride mecca known for it's steep and deep slopes; so much so it even hosts the Freeride World Tour finals! If that's too adventurous for you, there's plenty to enjoy on-piste and across the Les 4 Vallées, Switzerland's largest ski area.

Known as a free-riders paradise, Verbier is far from being suitable for beginners. Beginner-friendly slopes can be found in the smaller resort of Thyon though it's quite far from Verbier. Practicing on the blue slopes down to Les Masses at Thyon will help beginners be at their own pace without being disturbed by racing expert skiers.
There are plenty of red slopes all around Verbier! Our favorite for long uninterrupted rides back to the village is skiing from the top of Col des Gentianes for carving, speeding up and exploring the surrounding terrain.
Verbier is an absolute jackpot for advanced and expert skiers with endless off-piste options and easy to access backcountry terrain! From cliff drops to insanely steep pitches, it's all here. Get to the top of Mont Fort on one of the highest ski lifts in Switzerland and ski all the way to Siviez to get your legs burning from the endless bumps!
Most European ski resorts groom fresh snow but if you're quite confident going off-piste, finding freshies is easy; including the backside from Mont Fort to the Grand Desert lake. If you want to stay inbounds, get up early and be the first to ski Mont Gele. Hiring a guide would be ideal but for experienced backcountry skiers, start off at Les Ruinettes and ski down to Verbier, or if the weather is looking good, make your way up to Mont Fort.
It can get fairly crowded around Siviez and Col des Gentianes so for quieter slopes, explore other parts of the 4 Vallées such as the slopes between Nendaz and Plan du Fou!
While Verbier might not be on the top list of resorts for non-skiers, there are a few other outdoor activities that could keep them entertained. These include snowshoeing, ice-karting, dog sledding and much more.
Families with beginners should make their way to Thyon, a ski resort in the 4 Vallées that offers more beginner-friendly slopes. For those with intermediate or above skiers, there are many family-activities like horse-riding, ice-karting and tobogganing to participate in at Verbier.
