Overall
Located within an hour of Anchorage, Alaska's biggest ski area sits at a surprisingly low elevation just under 4,000 ft but with 700 in of annual snowfall, we're not complaining. While there's not a ton of beginner runs, there is enough variety to keep intermediates and above in heaven. In fact, the legendary expert steeps and extreme terrain here makes for the any daredevil's paradise! Best of all, the resort is a perfect warmup for your AK heli-skiing trip!

Go for the views, stay for the skiing! Great place to take some picturesque laps. The resort is awesome and offers a wide range of skiing from mellow groomers to steep expert terrain.... Moreexpert skier

This Alaskan resort may not be large, but it more than makes up for it with a consistent supply of fresh pow. No crowds or lift lines to be seen when we were there in late January which was a very pleasant surprise. Will definitely be returning!... Moreadvanced skier

Go for the views. The resort is gorgeous and easily accessible from Anchorage. On drawback is the snow usually isn't great but I got lucky with one epic powder day on my trip. The night skiing was great and the locals were beyond cool. This resort is a must visit for anyone who enjoy true mountain culture. ... Moreexpert snowboarder

Although great for advanced skiers and riders. Alyeska's terrain and conditions leave it difficult for families and beginners to ski. Steep terrain with lack of easy trails and usually icy conditions make this a dangerous resort. Access from Anchorage is a 45 minute car only drive along a beautiful but often treacherous highway.... Absolutely beautiful resort. Skiing while viewing the ocean is amazing, and something everyone should see. This resort is well worth the trip. The tickets are reasonably priced, and the hotel is pretty as well.... Moreexpert skier

Great resort. Amenities are just what you need. Terrain is challenging enough for expert skiers but is also accessible to beginners and intermediates. I've had great experiences. Would highly recommend.... Moreexpert skier

Alyaska is one of the best expert skiing area when it is fully open. Unfortunately Alaska weather is unpredictable at best. Sometimes you get snow, sometimes rain. It's an amazing place though for the views.Superb!5 / 5Jul 11, 2011
