Overall
Sunday River is among the best ski resorts in New England. It ranks high for snowmaking, grooming, modern lifts, and a long reliable season starting in October and often the first ski resort in New England to open. Halloween skiing through April, even May is where the River shines. We ski all over the globe and find the best snowmaking and grooming at The River on eight peaks of ski terrain. We also get the most skiing in here with the speedy well-located lifts connecting the eight peaks from White Cap to Locke Mountain, to Barker, to Spruce, North Peak, and Aurora, to Oz and Jordan Bowl. Sunday River is the second biggest ski resort in Maine after its sister ski resort Sugarloaf.

Amazing resort! With 8 peaks, it’s easy to get away from the crowds during the busy days on the main mountain. Show up early for great parking or late and grab a bus. I personally enjoy the groomed trails but they offer such a variety.... Moreadvanced skier

Great ski resort with a great variety of terrain! Sunday River is very good at spreading out crowds unlike some other ski resorts I know (Mount Snow...) I like how every "pod" has its own identity... Moreintermediate skier

Sunday River is an expansive resort covering 8 different peaks, the resort makes plenty of snow and has 135 runs making this a destination one can spend several days here. The lift layout at this resort is very structured and makes sense, with 15 different chairlifts it is not hard to get lost. The views on top of jordan or locke mountain are... Moreadvanced skier

Though pricy Sunday river has a wide variety of terrain, enough to keep anyone happy for days. They always have the latest and greatest for lifts. Make sure you go after payday though.... Moreadvanced skier

Sunday River is large for an East Coast mountain. It has a few different peaks and gives you the opportunity to move around and avoid some crowds. They are also well known for their parks and it is well deserved. They do a great job with man made snow, but be prepared for some icy days. ... Moreexpert snowboarder

Sunday River is a great place for people to learn how to ski/board and progress. There is a good variety of terrain and plenty of space to disperse people. While it doesn't snow quite as often, powder days are great, especially at OZ and Jordan Bowl.... Moreadvanced snowboarder

One of the most expansive resorts in the east, Sunday River does all it can to open the earliest and stay open the longest. Very committed to their grooming and slopside accommodations. It's unique in that there is a large variety of terrain for literally all ability levels. Drawbacks are that while it is hard to get to, it somehow has the ability... Moreexpert skier
