Overall

4.5

Located in the San Juan Mountains of Southwestern Colorado, Purgatory is a super friendly south western ski resort, perfect for families and folks that want a genuine kicked-back Colorado ski vacation. Purgatory offers a convenient well-planned ski base with a small pedestrian village and great lodging just steps from the slopes. Durango Colorado offers plenty to do besides skiing - but the skiing on Purgatory is so pleasing - you may not need any other diversions.

I had a wonderful birthday ski trip to Purgatory this season. I was accommodated greatly artist the expert edge ski shop. Bought myself some birthday boots and the staff helped me so well with fitting and forming my boots to my unique foot. Grizz and Joe (kitchen staff) helped me and made me feel like family when at the breakfast buffet and they... More

Fairly big resort. Hotels, restaurants, etc. It gets warmer here relative to colorado resulting in heavier snow, i wouldn't expect blower snow. Backside is vast but getting there and back involves a lot of flat ground.... More

Purg is one of my favorite off peak ski resorts. Peak season the place is inundated with Texans. The nick name "traverseatory" does hold true as the mountain is layed out in a staircase pattern of steep than flat and so on. My personal favorite area is anything off of lift 8. Purg has that locals feel and additude when not in a peak weekend. ... More

Purgatory offers a family friendly and affordable ski destination that has something for everyone in your group. The uncrowded slopes, attentive instructors and a great mix of terrain will keep a smile on everyone’s face. All the expected resort amenities are available but renting an Air B&B in Durango, 30 minutes away, opens up all the shopping &... More

Purgatory has great value for a Colorado mountain keeping its lift tickets at a very reasonable price. Great ski school for beginners and optimal terrain for intermediates. However the lift layouts can be frustrating and snow can be inconsistent.... More

Purgatory is a wonderful resort with something for everyone! None of the pretensions of the Monster resorts like Vail. It has a decidedly small town feel and is tons of fun!! Granted there really aren’t other close resorts to compete with, it’s still worth the trip, tucked out of the way in the beautiful San Juan Mountains!... More

This was definitely an incredible trip. The resort was clean, well organized, ans had a good vibe about it. With around 100 trails, this mountain feels like a hidden gem. There were no lines at the lifts on the backside of the mountain! Definiteoy a great mountain to check out.... More

Purgatory is awesome. The terrain is very unique with massive rollers everywhere. Super fun and usually easy to avoid crowds. Park is average sized but usually well maintained. Decent food and drink specials. Fun atmosphere, especially when "the beach" has a lot of visitors. Easy place to end up meeting new people and starting a party. Go to... More
